OUR PURPOSE

IndigenousNCDs is an Indigenous-led organisation that is seeking to promote the voices and experiences of Indigenous peoples within the global Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)discourse.

The principal object of the Company is to promote the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in and among the Indigenous peoples of the world (including in Australia), including by:

  • promoting Indigenous peoples’ leadership of and input into the effective treatment of non-communicable diseases in and among the Indigenous peoples of the world.
  • educating international organisations, governments, health providers, community and other organisations about the unique and effective contributions and perspectives that Indigenous persons bring to the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.
  • facilitating activities and co-operating with international organisations, governments, non-government organisations, health care providers, community and other organisations.
  • forming strong and meaningful partnerships with peak Indigenous organisations to assist in the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in and among the Indigenous peoples of the world;
  • promoting and advocating for the self-determination of Indigenous people in, and that they be closely involved in, the treatment, prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in and among the Indigenous peoples of the world;
  • make common representations on their behalf to international and national organisations, national governments and their agencies, and to international and other non-government organisations.
