IndigenousNCDs is an Indigenous-led organisation that is seeking to promote the voices and experiences of Indigenous peoples within the global Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) discourse.
Our objectives include;
- Facilitate opportunities for Indigenous peoples to participate at the national and international level to inform and educate the NCD dialogue;
- Promote Indigenous-led NCD solutions and successes;
- Educate stakeholders regarding unique Indigenous NCD-related issues;
- Advocate for Indigenous perspectives to be included in all NCD actions;
Potential future planning could include:
- Collaborating with Indigenous communities to identify core areas of Indigenous health (eg: aged care, childhood early intervention, mental health, women’s/men’s health);
- Collaborating with Government and other key stakeholders to develop relevant National and State legislation relating to Indigenous health, and specifically to the significance and contribution of non-communicable disease;
- Funding, co-funding, or providing assistance to seek funding, for programs/projects being undertaken to advance Indigenous health, especially those being developed within Indigenous communities;
- Benchmarking standards in the provision of non-communicable disease services to Indigenous peoples, and identifying models of best practice; and
